United Nations Climate Change Conference with David Victor

According to the organizing committee, the objective of the 2015 conference is to achieve, for the first time in over 20 years of UN negotiations, a binding and universal agreement on climate, from all the nations of the world.

Pope Francis published a papal letter sent to all bishops of the Roman Catholic Church called Laudato si’ intended, in part, to influence the conference. The encyclical calls for action against human-caused climate change.

David Victor is Professor at the School of International Relations and Pacific Studies and Director of the School’s new Laboratory on International Law and Regulation at the University of California, San Diego.  Prior to joining the faculty at IR/PS Victor served as director of the Program on Energy and Sustainable Development at Stanford University where he was also a professor at Stanford Law School.  He is the author of several books on climate change including Global Warming Gridlock: Creating More Effective Strategies for Protecting the Planet.
